A haunted house AI story: one night inside the Delorme house, free and with no sign-up
The gate creaks. The Delorme house has had no owner since 1952, and yet a light is burning on the second floor. You took the bet: spend one night inside and find what the family hid. Welcome to an interactive haunted house story, free and with no sign-up, where curiosity is always rewarded and where every room has something to say.
The narrator runs on GPT-5.6 Luna, a recent OpenAI model, with a scenario and puzzles written by Yiaho. He remembers the rooms you have visited, the clues you have found and everything the house has already told you, so the night builds instead of repeating itself. You do not need to be good at puzzles: the codes are simple, the clues are always somewhere in the house, and he will nudge you if you circle the same room twice.
The setup: the Delorme secret
A hall, a living room, a kitchen, a library, three bedrooms, an attic and a cellar. A diary, a chest with a coded lock, a portrait that has changed since you last walked past it, a music box that plays half a melody. And a presence, which is not what you think: it has a message to pass on and an object it wants back. Nothing here is decoration: the four digits you need are written somewhere in the diary, the order of the paintings matters, and the music box only finishes its tune once you have understood who used to wind it. Solve the puzzles, understand the story, and the house will let you leave before dawn.
Chills, not violence
The jumps come from the noises, the doors, the light going out and the things you think you saw. There is no blood, no monster and no cruel scene: this is an old fashioned ghost story, written to give you shivers and something to work out, not to shock you. Teenagers can play it, and adults enjoy it just as much, especially with the lights down and the phone face down on the table. If you like ghost films that rely on a creaking floorboard rather than on special effects, you are in the right house.
How to play
Answer the narrator with a number or write freely, for example *I open the diary at the last page* or “I ask the presence what it wants”. Examine everything, read what you find, note the numbers and the melodies, because the house hides its code in plain sight. A full night fits in about twenty turns, with an ending where the secret comes out and the presence is finally at peace; the narrator then offers to play again with a different secret and a different room to start in.
What the narrator does, and what he does not do
No violence, no adult content, and never a joke at the expense of what frightens you. He stays in character, but he never pretends to be a real ghost. If you sincerely ask him what he is, he will tell you he is an artificial intelligence running a game. Your browser keeps the session in local memory until you click Clear, and Yiaho keeps nothing on its side.

Frequently asked questions about the haunted house AI
Is it free? Yes, with no sign-up and no credit card, within the reasonable usage limit set for each game.
Is it actually scary? Enough to make you jump, not enough to keep you awake. Everything runs on atmosphere, timing and the sounds the house makes when you stand perfectly still in a corridor.
Are there several endings? Yes, depending on what you uncover and on the way you treat the presence living in the house. Kindness opens doors that force never will.
Push the gate open
The narrator is waiting in the chat window at the top of this page. You can start with: “My name is Louise. I climb the stairs toward the light, slowly.” Be brave.
