The story: a hatchling to keep hidden
You are a young villager in a mountain kingdom where hunting dragons is a respected trade; the king’s hunters, led by captain Rodric, stern without ever being cruel, come through the village every month. Your mother is a blacksmith, your little brother is curious, your friend Maëlle is loyal. The narrator follows the season, the size of the dragon, the trust between you, the words it has learned, the secrets you have kept and the villagers who know. Behind everyday life, a plot builds: why does the king hunt dragons, which old pact has been forgotten, what is hidden in the mountain where dragons take shelter? By winter, you will have to choose: keep the dragon, return it to its own kind or change the law of the kingdom.
Four seasons to grow up
In spring, the hatchling fits in one hand, plays with the straw and learns its first words. In summer, it is the size of a dog and breathes small clumsy flames that have to be hidden from the neighbors. In autumn, it carries you on short flights above the fir trees. In winter, it is fully grown, and it has a choice of its own to make. How to play
Give your first name, then answer with a number or write freely, for example *I hide the egg under my coat and head home* or “I teach it the word quiet before the hunters arrive”. Ask for a status report whenever you want, the narrator remembers everything you tell it during the game.
What the narrator does, and what it will not do
Nobody dies, there is no graphic violence and no adult content: the game suits children with an adult nearby just as well as teenagers and grown-ups. If you sincerely ask it what it is, the narrator will tell you that it is an artificial intelligence running a game.
