ChatGPT 4.5: The AI that talks and listens like a human?

GPT 4.5

Are we getting closer to the famous AGI? Artificial General Intelligence that promises “human” interactions with AI? According to Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, we’re getting there thanks to the launch of GPT-4.5.

According to OpenAI’s co-founder, this model is not just a simple update; it promises to transform how users interact with artificial intelligence.

GPT 4.5: A More Human Interaction?

Sam Altman describes his experience with GPT-4.5 as a dialogue with an entity capable of listening and understanding. “It’s the first model that gives me the impression of talking to a caring person,” he says on X, his enemy Elon Musk’s social network.

He mentions moments of astonishment at the quality of the advice given, emphasizing that this model feels like conversing with an attentive person. “I’ve had several moments where I sat back in my chair and was amazed to get really good advice from an AI,” adds the OpenAI boss.

With models like Grok 3 already in place, this trend of feeling a human connection in AI interactions is intensifying, demonstrating significant advances in natural language processing.

A logistical challenge?

But this good news comes with logistical challenges!

GPT-4.5, described by Sam Altman as a “giant and expensive” model, required strategic thinking from OpenAI. The company initially planned to launch the Plus and Pro versions simultaneously, but rapidly increasing demand led to GPU shortages. As a reminder, GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) are essential hardware components for computation.

To address this situation, OpenAI plans to add tens of thousands of GPUs in the coming weeks, with hundreds of thousands more in the pipeline. This race to adapt to growing needs highlights the pressure on technological infrastructure.

An AI model that also has its limits

Despite GPT-4.5’s impressive advancements, the OpenAI boss warns against excessive expectations. This model is not designed for complex reasoning and does not replace academic or intellectual references. Its strength lies in the “magic” of the interactions it offers, a characteristic that generates real enthusiasm among users.

According to Sam Altman, “it’s not a reasoning model and it won’t crush benchmarks.” At least, that’s honest of him!

With the launch of GPT-4.5, OpenAI aims to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence. It is clear that we are on the cusp of a promising era of human-machine interaction.
