French start-up Label4.ai has completed a €1 million funding round from private investors, marking a key milestone in its development. Founded in December 2024, the company specializes in detecting and tracing content produced or altered by artificial intelligence.
With this round, Label4.ai is getting ready to make a name for itself in the French and European markets, offering solutions to tackle the challenges created by the rise of synthetic AI content.
AI detection will become a major concern in the years ahead, given the emergence of increasingly powerful AI, as well as its malicious use.
Label4.ai: A team with complementary skills
Founded by six experts, Label4.ai brings together profiles from research and industry.
Four of the co-founders are researchers affiliated with INRIA (French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology) and the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research).
They are supported by two former employees of the Qwant search engine and TF1, who bring a practical, market-focused perspective to the project.
This synergy between academic research and industrial know-how positions Label4.ai as a promising player in the field of digital security.

AI technology to tell real from fake?
Label4.ai will develop tools to identify and label AI-generated content, whether text, images, videos, or audio. Its solutions are built around two main pillars:
- advanced forensic analysis (digital investigation), capable of detecting AI traces in content
- a digital watermarking system, which embeds invisible markers to ensure file traceability from the moment they are created.
These technologies target a wide range of customers, including media outlets, financial institutions, digital platforms, and public bodies facing the rise of deepfakes and fraud.
A favorable regulatory context with the AI Act?
This funding round comes at a key moment, as the European Union is preparing to finalize the AI Act, a regulation that will require, starting in August 2026, the identification of AI-generated content. Although some tech giants are calling for a two-year delay to the AI Act, it is very likely that EU AI regulation will be implemented quickly, given the constant advances in this field.
Label4.ai aims to position itself as a key partner to help companies comply with these new requirements. By working with European institutions, the start-up is also helping shape digital transparency standards.
A European ambition?
Thanks to this funding, Label4.ai plans to speed up its rollout in France and across Europe. If its solutions can be easily integrated into existing systems, they will meet a range of needs: fighting disinformation, securing sensitive documents, and authenticating content in e-commerce.
The company aims to become a leader in AI content detection, while promoting responsible use of artificial intelligence.
With a strong team, innovative technology, and a rapidly growing market, Label4.ai is well positioned to address the challenges of digital trust. This €1 million funding round is only a first step for the start-up, which is already considering new partnerships and technological developments to strengthen its position on the international stage.
