OpenAI introduces “Deep Research” with its partner SoftBank

deepResearch

This Monday in Tokyo, the American company OpenAI announced an interesting breakthrough in artificial intelligence with the launch of a new “deep research” tool for ChatGPT.

With a very enthusiastic Sam Altman, the presentation took place at a joint event with its Japanese partner SoftBank. As a reminder, it is a key player in tech investment and is already allied with OpenAI on the Stargate project.

OpenAI and SoftBank: A strategic collaboration

After his inauguration, Donald Trump clearly stated his ambitions in artificial intelligence by announcing a $500 billion budget dedicated to an AI project called Stargate. This project includes a collaboration between OpenAI and SoftBank, as part of a context of significant expansion of AI infrastructure in the United States.

This translates into the construction of massive data centers and a global race to develop the most advanced AI technologies, especially against China and its Deepseek AI.

OpenAI launches a new tool: Deep Research

After a string of project launches, between OpenAI o1 and more recently OpenAI o3, Sam Altman doesn’t want to be left behind by his Chinese competitors. The new tool, called “Deep Research”, promises to revolutionize how users interact with data. According to OpenAI’s CEO, this feature can “accomplish in a few dozen minutes what would take a human many hours of work“.

In practical terms, Deep Research enables ChatGPT to work autonomously on complex tasks. The user only needs to provide an instruction, and the tool commits to searching, analyzing, and synthesizing hundreds of online sources to create a complete report, “comparable to that of a human analyst”, according to Sam Altman. ChatGPT is thus evolving into an ultra-powerful search engine, enhanced by artificial intelligence, both in terms of intent and search results.

This deep analysis capability represents a leap forward in information accessibility and user productivity. And our Yiaho platform will integrate it as soon as it becomes available!

Strong potential economic impact

Sam Altman also shared an estimate of Deep Research’s potential impact on the global economy. He said this system could “carry out between 1% and almost 10% of all economically valuable tasks in the world“. This claim highlights OpenAI’s ambition to transform the employment and productivity landscape through artificial intelligence. Their partner SoftBank will also implement this new tool in their companies.

With “Deep Research”, OpenAI is certainly paving the way for new possibilities for businesses and individuals. By making data analysis more accessible and faster, this tool could well redefine how we work in many fields, with data and information.

As we enter an era where AI plays an increasingly central role in our professional lives, could the importance of these innovations still be underestimated? Share your thoughts in the comments!
