American scientists recently conducted a feasibility study to determine if artificial intelligence could help us find life forms on Mars.

The experiment took place in the Salar de Pajonales, a salt desert in Chile that offers conditions similar to those on the Red Planet. Researchers used a drone equipped with AI to map out priority search areas based on the probability of finding biosignatures—signs of life.

The results were spectacular: using AI increased the probability of finding these signs of life by 88% compared to random searches, and even reduced the search area by 96%.
