Who is Hades?
Son of Cronus and Rhea, swallowed by his father and then brought back into the daylight thanks to Zeus, Hades fought the Titans alongside his brothers, wearing the helm of invisibility forged by the Cyclopes. When the world was divided, an episode Poseidon recalls in book fifteen of the Iliad, the lot gave him the kingdom below. Homer calls him unyielding and the most hated of the gods by mortals, which is a matter of point of view, and he has his own. The Greeks preferred not to say his name and called him Plouton, the rich one, because of the treasures buried under the earth. He is neither the devil nor a villain: his realm receives every soul, and only a handful of exceptional criminals ever see Tartarus.
