At its annual conference, Alibaba, China’s e-commerce leader, unveiled Qwen3-Max, its most advanced artificial intelligence model. Succeeding Qwen3, introduced in April, this system marks a major milestone in Alibaba’s strategy to position itself as a key player in AI.

At the same time, the company introduced Qwen3-Omni, a multimodal model designed for immersive applications such as virtual reality and smart interfaces.

Qwen3-Max: top-tier performance

With over 1 trillion parameters, Qwen3-Max stands out for its ability to process complex data with high accuracy. These parameters, which determine how the AI analyzes and responds to information, make it one of Alibaba’s most powerful models.

According to the company, Qwen3-Max outperforms competitors such as Anthropic’s Claude and DeepSeek-V3.1 across several key metrics, notably in code generation and solving complex tasks.

Innovative capabilities for a wide range of uses

Zhou Jingren, CTO of Alibaba Cloud, highlighted Qwen3-Max’s strengths, especially its ability to generate code efficiently and its autonomous agent features. This system can make decisions and act independently, requiring less human intervention than traditional chatbots like ChatGPT, which is available on Yiaho.

These features pave the way for applications in areas such as automation, project management, and industrial systems.

Qwen3-Omni, for its part, focuses on integrating text, visual, and audio data. Designed for technologies like smart glasses or intelligent cockpits, it aims to enhance the user experience in immersive environments, notably for augmented reality and the automotive sector.

AI at the heart of Alibaba’s ambitions

Alibaba is making artificial intelligence a central pillar of its strategy, alongside its online commerce business.

The company announced an investment of 380 billion yuan (around €45.29 billion) over three years to strengthen its AI infrastructure. According to Eddie Wu, Alibaba’s CEO, “the growth of the AI industry and demand for suitable infrastructure are exceeding all our initial expectations.”

A major player in a global competition

The launch of Qwen3-Max puts Alibaba in a global AI race, competing with players like Anthropic and DeepSeek. By combining technical power with diverse applications, Alibaba aims to set new standards in the field. The autonomy capabilities and multimodal performance of its new models could transform a wide range of sectors, from virtual reality to the automotive industry.

With Qwen3-Max and Qwen3-Omni, Alibaba is showing its ambition to play a leading role in the evolution of artificial intelligence. These advances, backed by massive investments, could redefine how AI is used across many fields. As the industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, Alibaba’s next innovations will be closely watched by observers in the tech sector.
