In the world of AI, image generation tools are multiplying and promising increasingly impressive results.
To test their capabilities, we submitted six AIs to a simple but revealing request: “Draw me a realistic sheep“. We added the detail “realistic” to ask more work from the AI and also avoid approximations. The rules are simple: we give the AI only one chance!
We experimented with:
- Yiaho,
- ChatGPT,
- Grok 3,
- Mistral,
- Claude,
- Deepseek,
And here are the results and our impressions of their performance. Buckle up, we’re going on a creative journey full of surprises!
Yiaho: simple and free image generation
Let’s start with Yiaho, our French AI where we offer a completely free AI image generator. The sheep it gave us is successful: the details of the wool, the posture, everything is there for a convincing result. For a free tool, what do you think?

Obviously, since it’s our AI, the Yiaho team prefers to leave the final judgment to users – and we agree, it’s up to you to see. Leave your opinion in the comments, we’re curious to read your feedback!
ChatGPT: a decent image, but at a price
Let’s move on to ChatGPT, OpenAI’s famous model. The generated sheep is fairly realistic, with a style quite close to Yiaho’s. The outlines are sharp, the texture is there, but nothing extraordinary.

Where it gets tricky is the business model: OpenAI offers paid subscriptions, and image generation is not unlimited like with Yiaho. If you want to use it intensively, you’ll have to open your wallet.

Grok 3: a realistic image… with a pink planet?
With Grok 3, created by xAI, we got a well-executed sheep: the wool is detailed, the proportions are right… but there’s a catch. Why on earth did the AI add some kind of pink planet in the background?

It’s completely unexpected and, honestly, a bit confusing for such a simple prompt! In terms of accessibility, Grok 3 offers up to 15 free image generations, but beyond that, a subscription is required. A good compromise, if we overlook the cosmic fantasies.
Mistral: a very good result, but limited without a subscription
Mistral enters the scene with a sheep that really impressed us. The level of detail is excellent: you can almost distinguish each strand of wool, and the realism is there. It’s clearly one of the best results of this test.

But, like many high-performing AIs, unlimited access requires a subscription. If you’re looking for quality and are willing to invest, Mistral is an option to consider.
Anthropic’s Claude: a failed image generation?
We tested Claude, developed by Anthropic. And there, it’s total disappointment, even laughable! The result is a real disaster: the sheep looks more like a child’s drawing in Paint than a recognizable animal. The proportions are absurd, the texture is nonexistent, and it’s hard to understand what the AI was trying to do… See for yourself!

Moreover, the AI describes its actions and its “thought process”, as you can read to the left of the image… Clearly, Claude is not up to par for image generation – better to skip it for this type of task!
Deepseek: no image, but a creative guide
Finally, Deepseek surprised us… but not as we hoped. This AI doesn’t generate images directly. Instead, it provided us with a kind of text tutorial to draw our sheep ourselves!

It’s original, and it can be useful if you want to get hands-on, but for an image comparison, it doesn’t really answer the request. Deepseek, which has so disrupted the world’s AIs, shows its limits a bit…
Our verdict: What is the best AI for creating images?
Each AI has its strengths and weaknesses. Yiaho is now known for its free access and simplicity, ideal for curious people who want to test without breaking the bank. ChatGPT offers a decent solution, but its paid model limits its appeal. Grok 3 surprises with its cosmic sheep – a bit too creative for us! Mistral stands out for its quality, perfect for perfectionists willing to pay. Finally, Deepseek is for those who prefer to draw themselves.
And you, which AI tempts you most to draw your realistic sheep? Tell us everything in the comments, and share your own experiences with these tools!
