As is typical, Elon Musk, head of xAI, unveiled ambitious projects for his artificial intelligence Grok in a tweet. The South African entrepreneur, known for his disruptive announcements, promises not only an “exceptional” video game entirely generated by AI, but also an “at least watchable” film produced by Grok by the end of next year.
These revelations, posted on October 6, mark a decisive turning point for the entertainment industry, where AI could soon rival human creativity.
AI-Created Video Games
It all starts with xAI Game Studio, a new branch dedicated to game development. Elon Musk assures that this studio, boosted by Grok’s advanced capabilities, will deliver a complete and immersive title before the end of 2026.
“We’re going to release a great AI-generated video game,” he declared, mentioning innovative mechanics where the algorithm not only designs levels and characters but also adapts the experience to the player in real-time.
This ambition aligns with xAI’s current experiments, such as Grok Imagine, which already transforms children’s sketches into animated short films. Industry experts commend this initiative but temper the enthusiasm: designing a “great” game in one year remains a colossal challenge, even for an AI like Grok, trained on terabytes of gaming data.
And a 100% AI Film with Grok?
In parallel, Elon Musk is aiming higher with cinema. “Grok will produce an at least watchable film by the end of next year, and truly good films in 2027,” he predicted in response to a stunning demonstration of Grok Imagine generating realistic scenes.
Imagine: Hollywood scripts written, filmed, and edited by a machine, without a human production team. This isn’t science fiction; prototypes already exist, such as dialogue exchanges between hitmen created via Grok and tools like Flux or Runway.
Elon Musk, who had already teased a “convincing 30-minute show” for 2025, is accelerating his pace to face the competition, notably OpenAI and its video models like Sora 2, or Google’s Veo 3.
The Famous Copyright Question
These announcements raise ethical and creative questions. AI democratizes production: independent creators could flood the market with personalized content. But voices are rising against job losses for screenwriters and game designers, or the risk of homogenized content.

Elon Musk, true to his philosophy, dismisses the fears: “AI will augment human creativity, not replace it.” xAI, founded in 2023 to “understand the universe,” is making great strides, with Grok 3 free on X, Grok 4 free on Yiaho.
These projects position Grok as a pioneer in AI entertainment. If Musk keeps his word, 2026 could redefine our evenings: a joystick in hand or popcorn in front of a screen, all orchestrated by an intelligence that dreams in pixels and sequence shots. It remains to be seen if these promises will hold up, but one thing is certain: with Elon at the helm, the adventure promises to be explosive.
